So Much Solar, So Little Time: Going Solar FAQ’s (Part Two)☀️

Homeowner HOT Tips 🔥

Happy New Year Everyone, after learning about solar as a utility in my last article, let’s start off the year strong by answering FAQ’s I usually get from property owners after deciding to go solar. To recap, as you may know, if you opt in for the PPA (Power Purchase Agreement), you’re only paying for the power that is produced by the equipment we provide you once your house gets approved.

What if I move?

When you’re a part of the PPA program as I explained above, you’re only paying for the power. A PPA is what you pay Edison or LADWP right now. You pay for the power from the power lines and meter connected to your home. So, when you move, it is essentially the same process to switch the power to the new homeowner. You will fill out a form and the new homeowners will then get a cheaper rate for their energy.

Are there any upfront costs?

There are no upfront costs to switching to solar as a utility. The only way any money would come out of your pocket would be if you needed to upgrade your roof or electric panel, or any other scope of work in order to ensure your home is ready for solar.

Do my property taxes increase?

Since you are not buying the panels, you will not be leasing them, there will not be a loan to take out and there are no liens places on your home. With this, your property taxes do not increase.

What happens after?

After we cover your energy for the 25 year period, we can take the panels off, you can renew or you can buy the system for current fair market price.
